About OakCore

A Sydney consulting practice focused on how systems exchange data — and who owns the contracts when something breaks.

Why we exist

OakCore started after too many Australian product launches were delayed by the same pattern: partner APIs treated as an afterthought, backends that absorbed every new field without a boundary, and documentation that lived only in chat threads. We formed a small consulting practice to sit inside that gap — not to sell a platform, but to leave teams with clearer interfaces and calmer cutovers.

How we work

We prefer workshops and design reviews over slide-only strategy. Engineers who will maintain the code stay in the room. Decisions are written down. When a vendor’s API is poorly documented, we say so early rather than hiding the risk in optimistic timelines.

People

Alex Rowan — Principal Consultant
Background across payments, logistics, and retail integrations for Australian mid-market teams. Leads discovery, contract modelling, and cutover planning.

Sam Okonkwo — Associate Engineer (engagement support)
Supports larger inventories: inventory of endpoints, sample payload analysis, and draft runbooks under Alex’s direction.

Values in practice

  • Prefer boring, explicit contracts over clever abstractions
  • Name owners for every interface
  • Respect Australian delivery calendars — including the quiet weeks around end of financial year and Christmas freezes
  • Leave documentation the client can edit without us

Australia context

We are based at our Sydney office and work remotely with teams in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. On-site weeks are scheduled when whiteboarding or go-live support benefits from being in the same room.
